3D-Secure is a security protocol for online payments, developed by Visa and MasterCard to enable the identification of card holders making a purchase.
The identification takes place after the consumer has filled in his or her card details and is then required to fill in a code that only the card holder is aware of. With 3D-Secure, it is the bank that has issued the card, and not the merchant, that carries the financial risk for fraud. 3D-Secure is included as standard for all card payments with Auriga ePayment.
